Yarn and Such Things
I finished making a pair of “Grandma mittens” this weekend. They tell a story of lessons learned. We call them Grandma mittens because they look like the ones that my great grandmother knitted for us in baby to adult sizes back when she was alive. She was a mitten-making-machine.

Hand Woes
I have overworked my hands. By crocheting. By knitting. By typing, writing, holding my phone. I have trigger finger in my right hand and both are cramped up to the point where they’re weak. It’s hard for me to take a break and let them recover but also terrifies me that if I don’t rest I may injure myself to the point of not being able to work at all. It’s hard to balance the drive of getting things done with the need of taking care of myself.

Barn Quilt
I would someday like to build a full 8’ x 8’ square barn quilt with programmable LEDs. But that’s several tens of thousands of dollars and a lot of skills I do not have yet. And there are a lot of pieces to figure out, such as the design interface, that can be done without the full hardware setup. So when I saw this Half Square Triangles instructable it looked like a good place to start!

FTC Castle
My kid sister is doing FTC this year. Their printer was acting up, so she asked us to help out and print their custom shipping element. She designed the file!

Spray Painting
It’s been warm out, so I have been playing with rattle cans. On the boring side, I coated some metal shelf legs to keep them from rusting and painted the kickplate for my tall white cabinet (they only sent blue ones for my lowers, forgetting that the pantry cabinet needed a kickplate, too.)

Early May Update
New Housemate
Before our vacation, we signed up for the waiting list for a greyhound. And on St. Patty’s day, Blackfeather joined our household. He’s an insomniac and way more energetic than most greyhounds. So he’s a weirdo even for a weird breed of dog. But he fits in here just fine with his human weirdos. :)

New Year, New Projects
Because when am I not thinking of new projects to do? Holidays came and went. I got some nice tools and even have used some of them since. Mostly have been using the snow blower and shovel, though. It’s been snowing like there’s no tomorrow. Started and finished PT in January. Have got back into cooking pizza and making desserts, as well.

Finished the shell scarf I’m giving a friend. Made a tunisian christmas tree ornament out of some scrap cotton yarn. The first stocking is done, the second needs seaming.

Progress Report as excuse to learn a thing
In the spirit of “regularly”, documenting progress made on projects today. And figuring out how to add images to the site!

Project Update 0
After a kind ladyDev showed me what I mucked up with my A records last night, I think I figured out how do do this whole website thing. I want to get back to practicing regular documentation of my efforts. Practicing being the key word. Regular being the trick.
